This year’s hottest holiday décor style is dubbed “Modern Farmhouse.” Inspired by HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” star interior designer, Joanna Gaines, “Modern Farmhouse” is not only practical, modern, and rustic, but cost-efficient and comfortable, too. Gaining traction in early 2018, “Modern Farmhouse” searches on Etsy are up 142% compared to last year and according to Google Trends, interest in the search term doubled year over year. The “Modern Farmhouse” style consists of warm tones, wood accents, plaid/striped or solid fabrics in dark reds, greys and blacks, beige and sage green hues, as well as galvanized steel, and other rustic, industrial, and vintage-themed materials.
